Eric, Melissa, Stephen, and Jared working in the Pou Whakaaro Sustainable Gardens greenhouse.

Do you have a passion for gardening and working outdoors? Then we have a great opportunity for you to join our gardening group at a green house in Edgecumbe.

Our Sustainable Gardening Group meets every Tuesday and Thursday morning and travels out to our greenhouse in Edgecumbe, which covers an impressive 30 x 60 meters and has installed underground irrigation.

You will learn to grow vegetables, herbs and other plants and the option to sell what you grow and learn while participating in our Micro Business Programme.

Sustainable Gardens use organic and sustainable methods where no artificial fertilisers are used. The group makes their own compost and utilises coffee grounds from the Cafe & Gallery, which is rich in nitrogen and potassium.

Sustainable Gardens provide fresh organic produce to a number of local suppliers.

If you would like to join our Sustainable Gardening Group, go to our Courses and Events page.

To find out how you can get involved in a Micro Business email our coordinator at  Pou Whakaaro.
